Brodick Boathouse has been given the green light by North Ayrshire Council’s planning department to operate as a hot food takeaway,
The Boathouse plans to provide breakfast and lunch options, speciality coffees, Arran Dairies ice creams and milkshakes, with both indoor and outdoor seating for visitors.
According to the application, the building will be altered internally to include a service and kitchen area, a public space, a small storage area, and staff facilities. Other than a timber bin store, no external alternations will be made to the building.
The business will be open from Monday to Sunday, from 9am to 4pm, and will employ four staff members at busy times, and three at quieter periods.
The building has been vacant for several years but has previously been used to sell fishing equipment, gifts, toys, ice cream, drinks and confectionery, as well as being the rental location for bike hire and the putting green.
It is understood that the new owner also wishes to obtain the lease to reopen the adjacent putting green.
