Hope Kitchen has received a share of around £1.2million from the ScottishPower Foundation.
The Oban charity is a core partner to the Connecting Communities Collective and has been awarded the funding to support its pilot upcycle and repair shop Re_Store.
Re_Store aims to address societal challenges in the area by alleviating poverty, while reducing environmental impact and waste.
The funding from the ScottishPower Foundation will enable the shop to pilot upcycling, repair and rescued food projects, providing affordable food, clothing and homeware whilst reducing waste.
As part of the project, the shop will host workshops and events to enable people to learn the skills to repair and upcycle their homeware.
Melanie Hill, executive officer and trustee at the ScottishPower Foundation, said: “Projects like Re_Store are a prime example of how the ScottishPower Foundation’s support is helping to create a better future.
“With this year’s projects providing vital support to aid vulnerable people, communities and natural ecosystems across the nation, it’s important for us to recognise and boost the incredible work of these charities.”
Catriona Petit from Hope Kitchen, said: “We are delighted to have received this funding from the ScottishPower Foundation to support Re_Store. This will help us to continue supporting our community in ways that address social issues such as poverty, as well as environmental issues, and in ways that bring people together and reduce sigma."
