Link Housing, in charge of the home development, wanted to include a new woodland as part of its future vision for Dunbeg and asked community and charity stalwart Susan Simpson to help set up a new organisation to take the forest forward.
Farmer Sheila MacGregor has painted a cheery sign welcoming people to the woodland as they walk from the ferry just before Little Horseshoe Bay on the island’s east side and a box is ready and waiting for donations. Every £1 will buy a tree.

Inverawe Community Woodland is now in the last stage of acquiring 15 acres of forestry land off the A85 beside the River Awe so people in the area can enjoy it for walking and leisure for generations to come.
Inverawe Community Association is appealing for people to sign up as members so it can get charity status and buy 15 acres off the A85 from Forestry and Land Scotland.
