Lewis war memorial turns red for Remembrance Day

The Lewis War Memorial was turned red for this year’s Poppy Scotland Light Up Red appeal, which was also being marked on the island by a projection of images of some of the islanders who made the ultimate sacrifice in World Wars One and Two.

The Point and Sandwick Trust, lit up its three turbines at Beinn Ghrideag – the largest community-owned wind farm in the UK – and its base at the Old Knock School in Point as part of Poppy Scotland’s ‘Light It Red’ campaign to thank those who served in the First World War.
