Former team-mate and a friend of more than 50 years, Skye councillor John Finlayson, told the Lochaber Times he was both shocked and deeply saddened by Mr Martin’s death.
A 65-year-old man died at the scene and his next of kin have been made aware.
Mr Blackford added that, whilst there is work to be done, there was a willingness from CrossReach to work collectively with NHS Highland and other partner agencies to make this happen, although CrossReach was unlikely to remain as the operator.
A spokeswoman for CrossReach said the decision came after ‘strenuous efforts’ to map a way forward for Budhmor were unsuccessful.
The enterprise was set up by Dave and Liz Kerr from Caithness and has already seen hundreds of devices given to children and young people.
