The local diversion at the Rest and Be Thankful to be used from 8pm.
The Old Military Road local diversion route beside the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful is to be used for all traffic from 8pm tonight.
But only when weather and hillside conditions allow, says BEAR Scotland.
‘The purpose is to provide resilience and divert traffic during the construction of the permanent solution,’ says council executive director.
The A83 was closed during Monday (January 11) following a Met Office yellow warning for heavy rain.
It has been erected to prevent further movement of boulders and rubble which were destabilised following landslips in August and September.
The so-called ‘bund’ will be 570ft long and 19ft tall and will be positioned next to the OMR at the foot of the vulnerable channel formed by landslips in August and September.
Teams are continuing to assess and inspect the debris on the hillside using CCTV and time-lapse monitoring, said BEAR Scotland.
