Reports were received of a man unconscious at an address on Miller Road, Oban, around 1.25pm on Monday.
The ambulance service blamed the delay on other crews being called out to a number of high priority calls at the same time.
Police had to shut the road, causing tailbacks in all directions until the area was clear again.
