FSB Scotland says it supports appropriate regulations for short-term lets, but believes that the Scottish Government is using a ‘sledgehammer to crack nuts.’
Brendan O’Hara has called on Airbnb owners across the Highlands and Islands to cease trading immediately, if they have not already done so, or face being responsible for encouraging a surge of unwanted visitors to the area over the Easter period.
After last year’s study by the Scottish Government revealed that almost one in every five dwellings on Skye is now run as an AirBnB, local MSP for the island, Kate Forbes, has backed an announcement that Highland Council will be given new powers to licence and limit the number of short-term lets.
