Highlands and Islands MSP called for a parliamentary debate on the next steps for the A83 Rest and Be Thankful, and the plans to deliver a permanent, long-term solution to the ongoing debacle

The works, between 7pm-7am, will address a 300m section of the route, said BEAR Scotland.

New lights will help, but one lane of the A83 through Glen Croe looks like to remain shut for most of 2021.
‘The purpose is to provide resilience and divert traffic during the construction of the permanent solution,’ says council executive director.
‘The two-day trial of running the A83 24 hours a day will allow us to identify any issues associated with operating the route at all hours for road users’
Labour and Conservative candidates both said the latest announcement provided no clear timeline for delivery of a permanent fix for the route.
‘Teams are continuing mitigation work at the Rest, including developing the next debris catch-pit next to the A83 roadside.’
