From 2015-19, 27 people lost their lives on the A82 trunk road – an increase of four over the previous five years (2010-14).
Launching the survey today (Thursday), Ms Forbes told the Lochaber Times that in recent weeks there has been a lot of discussion about the need to improve the A82.
The A82 will remain open throughout the project, however temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours to ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as road users.
Phase one of STRP2 are those projects classed as top priorities to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic to help rebuild economy and involves projects that can be delivered in the next two or three years.
Set to begin on Sunday, October 25, overnight road closures will be in place for safety each week, Sunday to Thursday, 8pm-6am, with works amnesties to be implemented.
