Tickets are still available for Lochaber Phoenix Boxing Club’s fundraising ‘An evening with John Hartson’ which has proved popular with football fans no matter which club they support.

John, who has local family connections, is a well-known figure in the professional game having played for, amongst others, Celtic, West Ham and the Welsh national squad before he became a football pundit and broadcaster.

He will take the floor in Caol Community Centre on Friday August 12 from 7.30pm,  meeting and greeting the audience before talking about his career and life in and out of ‘the beautiful game’. He will take questions from the audience at the end of his talk.

Keen boxer and football fan of Celtic and West Ham Callum MacLean may be too young to remember John Hartson as a player, but is keen to hear about his experiences when playing for both clubs and how football changed his life.

Priced £20 for adults and £15 for under 16s, tickets are still available and can be booked by contacting the club through its Facebook page or calling head coach Vince Lopez on 07496 909838. All profits from the evening will help the club meet ongoing costs and ensure young boxers can take part in training sessions and competitions across the country.
