Western Isles swimmer Kara Hanlon has been congratulated again after she was selected to represent Great Britain for the first time at next month’s European Aquatics Championships in Rome.

Western Isles Council convener Kenny Macleod said: ‘Kara has been given a debut senior international GB call-up, on the back of her selection for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham,’ commented Mr Macleod.

‘She has had a fantastic long-course season, becoming the Scottish record holder and British champion in the 100m breaststroke at the British Championships in Sheffield.

‘We are running out of superlatives for Kara and wish her all the best as she continues to represent her country and her islands.’
