A group of enthusiastic young footballers from Lochyside took
full advantage of an offer to join professional coach and former Caley
Thistle Player Richard Hastings for a training session at the newly
equipped Old School Court playing field last week, writes Iain Ferguson.

Organised by the equally keen and busy Lochyside Community Group (LCG) which raised the money to buy goalposts and tall barriers to stop balls going adrift of the pitch, the event took place on Friday evening.

The session was open to all children of nursery and primary school age.

Richard had been in the area all week running his popular RH3 Pro Elite football summer camp at Canal Parks four times a day and had offered to run a free hour-long session for LCG.

After running through various activities to warm everyone up and working on co-ordination, the children split into teams for a mini match.

Under the watchful eye and guidance of Richard, the young players ran, tackled and took shots at goal, celebrating their success as though it was a major tournament.

Speaking after the session, Richard said: ‘There was a good turnout and some great talent amongst the youngsters.

‘I was happy to do this and everyone really enjoyed taking part.’
