After an enforced absence of two years due to Covid lockdowns, organisers were delighted to once again host the Lochaber Provincial Mod in Bun Sgoil Ghaidhlig Loch Abar in Caol.
A healthy entry of more than 110 individuals and groups saw it possible to hold competitions in 62 classes with entrants from Mallaig, Arisaig, Spean Bridge, Dingwall, Inverness, Oban, Mull and Ardnamurchan amongst other places bolstering the local entries.
One of the organisers, Moira Robertson, praised the high standards from competitors, telling the Lochaber Times: ‘Our adjudicators for the two days all commented on the high standard of music and Gaelic which was very encouraging to hear.
‘Planning for next year starts now and we hope to be able to continue to grow the local mod and encourage children and adults alike to carry on to the National Mod.
‘We would like to thank all our stewards and adjudicators for their efforts on the day, to all the parents and tutors/teachers for supporting and encouraging their kids to take part and finally to all the kids who took part on the day
‘Meur Loch Abar is the organising committee locally for Mod Loch Abar; we are a small committee and if anyone would like to get involved with helping please get in touch.’
