Six young shinty teams gathered at An Aird last week to battle it out in the Tulloch Homes National Primary School Finals Day.

Players from Newtonmore Primary School, Glenurquhart/Balnain primaries, Muirtown primary, Caol Primary School, Glasgow Gaelic School and Tighnabruiach primary took part.

After the round robin stages, a semi-final between Glenurquhart/Balnain and Tighnabruiach saw the former proceeding to the finals after an exciting match.

Glenurquhart/Balnain were joined in the final by Newtonmore Primary School, who started strong with the first goal from James Coil. Glenurquhart/Balnain responded quickly with two goals in four minutes from Glen MacDonald.

James Coil got his second goal just before six minutes, a great high ball which floated in from just over halfway.

There were some great saves from both keepers.

Just after the re-start, Jadon McCormack made it 3-2 to Newtonmore.

Another two quick goals from Newtonmore and a third for James Coil in the last minute kept the scoreboard ticking over but the day ended with a 5-3 win for Newtonmore.

Organisers thanked Fort William for the use of their pitch and Ben Mackenzie and Willie MacDonald for officiating on the day. Thanks also went to all the players, parents and coaches for a fantastic day.
