The popular Buggy Buddies walking group is ready to stride out for the summer.

Led by NHS Western Isles’ (NHSWI) Health Visiting Team and Action for Children staff, the weekly Buggy Buddies is aimed at parents and carers of babies and toddlers in buggies, prams or carriers.

Members meet at Porter’s Lodge beside Stornoway Golf Club car park at 11am every Tuesday.

Group organiser Elaine MacMillan said: ‘Buggy Buddies is free and open to all parents and carers. The group is a great way for babies to get fresh air, whilst parents and carers can enjoy gentle exercise as well as increasing their parent and baby bonding time.

‘Walking can improve wellbeing and fitness and promote good mental health. It has been particularly challenging for new parents and families during the pandemic as the usual opportunities for social interaction and group activities with their babies were suspended. We hope this group will help families take positive steps to improving their mental health.’
