Reader David Perchard of Jersey has been in touch to share a photograph of an event in Oban in 1920 – Oban High School sports, held on July 3 that year.

David said: ‘Over the years we have visited Oban many times. Margie and Jessie Lutkin, of 5 Burnbank Terrace, were related to my wife.

‘We recently discovered a postcard size photograph of an event in Oban in 1920 which features Margie.

‘Marjory Lutkin, born 1904, died 2006, is the first person on the left of the photograph. She lived at 5 Burnbank Terrace with her sister Jessie Lukin, born 1898, died 1990. Jessie is not in the photograph.

‘Marjory celebrated her 100th birthday at a care home in Benderloch, where she lived until just before her 102th birthday.

‘We frequently visited Marjory and Jessie over the years and they were a fund of wonderful stories of Oban, including details of flying boats that were based at Ganavan during WW2. I think at one stage Marjory was the oldest resident living in Oban. She seemed to know just about everyone. I hope that this may be of interest.’
