After an intense few weeks of bowling, the District Bowling Championships were played to a conclusion on Sunday with an Oban rink involved in the finals.

The ladies senior rink of Anne Stewart, Marian Carr, Lorna Carmichael and Rosemary Miller played Argyll in Colgrain and booked their place at the Scottish Championships at Ayr in July following a closely fought match against the Campbeltown club.

Junior singles players Kirsty and Emma Gargan were due to play each other on the Oban green but the match was postponed due to unforseen circumstances. The girls hope to reschedule this week with one of them guaranteed a place at the Northfield finals.

Oban players who made it through to the semi finals this year were Elizabeth MacGillivray in the ladies singles, Anne and Neil MacDougall in the mixed pairs and Neil MacDougall in the gents senior singles.
