Lochaber High School’s Class of 2022 were the first sixth year pupils able to attend a graduation ceremony since 2019.

The lucky 86 teenagers also experienced the first of a new style of celebration, being presented with their certificates by guidance teachers from each House as they filtered through the main hall, rather than on stage in front of an audience of friends and family.

After a short speech by head teacher Scott Steele, the pupils gathered behind the Lochaber Schools’ Pipe Band which led them across the River Lochy bridge to the nearby Soap Factory for an evening reception. The route was lined by parents and well-wishers who waved and cheered as the line of well-dressed young people passed by.

On arrival at the reception, the band formed two lines which the pupils passed through, on the way to the entrance where the wind band provided further musical entertainment.
