The sun shone on the first Lochaber Primaries Inter-school Sport event for three years, which took place last week next to Lochaber Leisure Centre.

Spean Bridge primary pupils proved to be convincing champions, winning five of the eight individual medals on offer throughout the event, as well as the team relay.

Competition got under way with the first heat of sprints followed by skipping, a sack race then the relay heats.

Next came a middle-distance event, run as a straight final, before the rest of the finals were contested with the best six pupils from the heats.

In the overall competition, the trophy for small schools was won by Kinlochleven
primary, who were neck and neck with the combined team from Ballachulish/Duror until the final relay, in which Kinlochleven added to their points total.

In the larger schools competition, Banavie and Lundavra primary schools shared second place behind winners Spean Bridge primary.
