Bob MacIntyre’s recent run of patchy form continued last week when he missed the cut at the Porsche European Open in Hamburg, Germany.
The Oban man got off to the worst possible start on Thursday when he found himself five over par after only four holes, a run which included a triple bogey seven at the fourth hole. To his credit, the left hander fought back and recorded four birdies to eventually sign for a two over par 74.
With scoring proving tricky for the entire field, his comeback gave him a more than realistic chance of making the weekend.
Unfortunately for Bob, things did not improve on Friday and a disappointing 78, including a back nine of 42, left him well short of the cut line on +8. The tournament was eventually won by Kalle Samooja of Finland.
The result sees Bob’s world ranking drop to 90 and his inconsistent form will be of real concern going into the busiest period of the season, with three tournaments in Scotland coming up next month including the 150th Open in St Andrews.
