The first osprey egg of the season hatched at Loch Arkaig Pine Forest in Lochaber at 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Woodland Trust Scotland has operated a nest camera at the site supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery each summer since 2017.

Laura Chow, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: ‘It is such great news that an osprey egg has hatched at Loch Arkaig Pine Forest.

‘We are delighted player support allows so many people to enjoy following osprey family life – wherever they are.’

The Loch Arkaig livestreams can be viewed at a dedicated page on the Woodland Trust website at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/trees-woods-and-wildlife/osprey-cam>

Woodland Trust Scotland and Arkaig Community Forest bought the site in 2016 from Forest Enterprise Scotland under the National Forest Land Scheme.
