FALCONER – James Keith Ross, died peacefully at home on May 17, 2022, aged 67. Hugely admired and respected by a great many friends and colleagues for whom his generosity, sense of fun and optimistic spirit were an inspiration. Raconteur, country sportsman and lover of whisky and claret, Keith was one of a kind. An adoring husband, brother, father and grandfather. A private family funeral will be held. Memorial details to follow.

MACARTHUR – Peacefully and surrounded by his family in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow on May 13, 2022, Neil, beloved husband of Flora, father of Sarah, Sheila and Seamas and much loved Papa of Shari, Jo, Innes, Archie and Ross. Will be sadly missed.

MALCOLM – John, Stronmilchan, Dalmally, aged 84 years. Husband of Elizabeth, father of Morag and Elspeth, died May 17, 2022 at Ashgrove Care Home, Dunoon, ending his long journey with dementia. A private cremation and interment will take place at Glenorchy and Innishail graveyard.

MCCUISH – Angus (Dougie). Formerly of Oban. Peacefully at St Brendans care home, Isle of Barra on May 16, 2022, much loved dad of Kenny, Brian and Mary. Funeral service will take place in South Uist.
MORRISON – Peacefully in Ward I, Lorn and Islands Hospital on Sunday, May 22, 2022 Katie Ann (née MacKay). Greatly loved by all her immediate and extended family. Although sadly missed we rejoice that she is now in her Lord’s nearer presence. Gus Am Bris An La.

WINTER – Anne Walker Winter passed away peacefully in the Lorn and Islands Hospital on May 17, 2022. Dearly loved wife of Robert and much loved mother of Robert, Nanny of Sam and Lewis and mother-in-law of Liliana. Twin sister to Carol. A private cremation was held on Tuesday, May 24.

MACKINNON – Janice, Katie, Sara and Alex would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the lovely cards, messages and flowers received following our recent devastating loss and for the outpourings of love and kindness shown to Peter throughout his illness. All were an enormous comfort to the family at this most difficult time. Thanks to the local community nursing team for their exceptional care and kindness which enabled Peter to return home following a short period at the Highland Hospice in Inverness; Lochaber Macmillan Nurses, especially Rob Purdie, and all at Acharacle Medical Practice for their support throughout his illness, and Humanist Celebrant Alyson Stewart and the team at Manson & MacBeath Funeral Directors, for their guidance, kindness and compassion. Finally, a big thank you to all who attended the service at Fort William Railway Club – and to Meg, Liz and all staff for their care and kindness. The extremely generous sum of £1217.32 was raised in Peter’s memory and will be shared between the Highland Hospice and Lochaber Macmillan Nurses. Thank you all.

MACLEAN – The family of the late Neil MacLean send heartfelt thanks to relatives, friends and neighbours for all their support at this time. Also Billy McClymont for the funeral arrangements, the Rev. Liz Gibson for the lovely service, Calum MacLean for his piping and Ros Heywood for the music. Also the staff at Mull and Iona Hospital, GPs and Community Staff for the excellent care received.

MACGILL – To the memory of our dear Uncle Neil MacGill MA T.D. Major R.A. and 8th A and SH. Eldest son of Mina and Neil MacGill, Gartloist Farm, Bowmore, Isle of Islay. Husband of the late Betty, stepfather to Alan and David. Brother of the late Donald, Barr Farm and the late Iain, Gartloist Farm, uncle of Anne, Neil and Margaret. Following active service in WW2 he gave a lifelong commitment to the T.A. A native Gaelic speaker, scholar and teacher he was a supporter of the Gaelic language, Mods and The Glasgow Islay Association. An Islay man living in Tarbert, Neil taught in Bowmore and Coupar Angus schools taking headships of Killin and Tarbert Academy.
