Oban Otters swim team were in action again earlier this month when they travelled to Glasgow to compete in a West District meet held at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Taking part in his first major meet, Performance squad newcomer Marco Macgregor quickly adapted to the conditions and recorded three greatly improved times in butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke.

Also swimming at Tollcross for the first time, Megan Carre set three personal best times, including going under the 40-second barrier for 50 metres backstroke.

Lily Robinson set personal best times in four events. In the 100 metres fly Lily was close to the podium when finishing with an excellent fifth place in a strong field. She is now looking forward to stepping up to compete over 200 metres butterfly.

Dunbeg Dolphin Joel Robinson won the prize for the most personal records – setting seven best times across all strokes. Joel also had some excellent places and only a
technical disqualification stopped him winning a medal in the 100 metres butterfly.

Otters head coach Shannon McCuish said: ‘Well done all. That was amazing.’

The next challenge for Team Otters will be when they travel to Campbeltown to take on local rivals Kintyre ASC.
