The Camanachd Association has announced the Scotland Under-17 squad for the Tour of Ireland in July.

The annual tour, which has been taking place for more than 20 years, sees the country’s elite shinty players play shinty/hurling challenge matches against their Irish counterparts from Kildare and Dublin.

This year’s tour will once again be sponsored by Skye technology company Sitekit, the founder of which is Campbell Grant, a former shinty player with Glasgow
University, Aberdeen Camanachd and Skye Camanachd in the 1980s.

Campbell said: ‘As a business with roots in the Highlands and Islands, Sitekit is proud to support the Under-17 national team once again and wish the squad well on its tour.’

Camanachd Association youth director Willie MacDonald added: ‘We are delighted
to once again have the support of Sitekit for the Under-17 Tour of Ireland.

‘This is an exciting and dynamic squad of players and for many this will be the first step on the journey to senior Scotland caps in the future.’

This year’s squad is: Aiden Love, Kilmallie; Calum Nicolson, Skye; Cameron Stephen,  Fort William; Coll MacKay, Inveraray; Craig MacDonald, Fort William; Euan MacCormick, Beauly; George Taylor Ramsay, Kingussie; Iain Fraser, Kingussie; Jack Nelson, Strathspey and Louie MacFarlane, Oban Camanachd; Sean MacLellan, Fort William; Taylor Matheson, Skye; Archie MacRae, Kinlochshiel; Brodie MacBean, Newtonmore; Finlay Fraser, Glengarry; Finlay Maclennan, Beauly; Marcus Planck,  Bute; and Thomas MacKinnon, Beauly.
