The West Highland branch of the Vintage Motorcycle Club has experienced more difficulties than most in rebuilding after Covid with its relatively low numbers and widespread membership.
The branch covers from south of Oban up to Skye, covering approximately 4,000 square miles, so with fewer than 20 members, they don’t see one another that often.
The largest group is based around Fort William so a special treat was laid on for April’s club night to tempt everyone out of hibernation.
Alistair and Paula Huddleston presented their slide show of the stupendous ‘Huddleston Collection’ of mainly flat tank V-twins from across the globe.
The usual venue was set aside for the biggest ever turnout for a West Highland Club night which was held instead at Kilmallie Community Centre on the famous A830 ‘Road to the Isles’.
An audience of 15, including Peter Lamont and Rob Kemp who drove up from the Isle of Luing and Kilmelford respectively, were treated not to the fascinating illustrated talk and sweet and savoury nibbles laid on by Jackie Hail, wife of Glenfinnan member Danny. Thanks are extended to Jackie for her efforts.
It was great to see such a relatively large number of members who haven’t been together much in the past couple of years have a good catch-up.
