Lochaber AC juniors end winter season on a high

Lochaber Athletics Club juniors celebrated the end of their Winter League with a prize giving ceremony.

Lochaber Athletic Club juniors completed their winter league by running from Claggan Park to the foot of Melantee and back last weekend.

The mist cleared in time to provide an atmospheric morning for the young runners.

In the under 11 age group, Aaron Tresidder came first in 12 minutes 33 seconds with Toby Smith, 13:43, in second and Kai Tresidder, 13:45, third.

Lily Cant was first under 11 girl in 13:55. Brother Alistair was just behind, followed by
Caoimh Bellshaw and Merry Wells.

The under 13 race was longer, with Isla Cant finishing in 20:35. Freddie Smith recorded 21:15 with Ossian Bellshaw just behind.

The overall first placed runners in the league were: Under 11 boys, Aaron Tresidder; under 11 girls Lily Cant; under 13 girls joint equal, Maddison MacMillan and Isla Cant, and under 13 boys first equal Ossian Bellshaw and Freddie Smith.

Training concludes at the high school on Thursday before the Easter holidays, and resumes after the holiday at Claggan Park from 6pm to 7pm on Thursdays. Track and field will be the main event in the summer with sprint races, hurdles, relays, jumping and throwing.
