Pupils from Oban High School have helped a number of Secondary Schools from Argyll and Bute clock up a total of nearly 10,000km in the Active Schools Strava challenge 2022.
The competition run by the Live Argyll Active School and Sports team encourages
pupils to get more active by recording walking, running and wheeling activity when
they are out and about in their local areas.
This year the winning schools will receive funding towards new sports kit that can be
used for PE classes and extra curricular sport and physical activity clubs and
Top school honours this year went to: 1, Dunoon Grammar; 2, Campbeltown Grammar; 3, Oban High School.
As well as the overall award for the top three placed schools the top girl and boy
from each participating school will receive a Fitbit watch individual prize.
For Oban High School this year the top girl was Rachel Carre (for the second year in
a row) and top boy was Ewan Dowd with over 670km achieved between them. Well
The Active Schools team are currently busy working with all Secondary Schools
in Argyll and Bute as the first ever Indoor Rowing Concept 2 League competition
takes place over the coming months.
