North Argyll Cycle Club Oban and West Highland Wheelers from Fort William came together recently for the Sutherlands Grove cross country race.

It took place around Barcaldine Forest, north of Oban, with categories for all – under eights, under 12s, senior novice, senior novice women, senior and senior women – as well as a new e-bike category.

Winners and runners-up from the senior races enjoy the sweet taste of victory.

Michael Bossard of Bossards Bakery in Oban supplied tasty, secret recipe, gingerbread medals.

A great turnout of riders had a good time in perfect weather conditions.


Female: 1 Heather Shanks 1:04.17; 2 Marie Meldrum 1:10.44; 3 Nicola Foster 1:22.57.

Male: 1 Gary Macdonald 48:50; 2 Ewen MacGillivray 54:03; 3 Tom Smith 58:32.

E-bike: 1 AJ MacDonald 46:22; 2 Leon Sims 48:43; 3 Ryan Nathan 49:33.

Under 8s: 1 Charlie Kennedy; 2 Alastair Cant; 3 Gregor Davis.

Under 12s: 1 Arron Tresidder; 2 Mac Rodwell; 3 Lily Cant.
