Have you got the right ingredients for a dream job on Kerrera?

Island couple Gill and Tim Vollum are looking for a new chef to run the marina’s Waypoint restaurant.

A social media search is now on to find the ideal candidate to take on a foodie adventure.

Gill and Tim are looking for someone who will revel in the challenges of running a restaurant on an island and say a little bit of quirkiness will help.

And there is even accommodation on Kerrera thrown into the mix – although it is likely to be a caravan.

‘We can sort out a caravan, houses are in short supply and big demand over here but chefs have come over from Oban in the past, it must be the coolest commute to work and back,’ adds Gill.

The job is only seasonal for now but there are plans to make it a year-round role in the future.

Amazing produce from the farm on the island and from the sea fills Kerrera’s larder.

‘The right person would be a whizz at making delicious meals from our own meat and get excited whenever a fishing boat passes the pontoons.

‘We’re getting lots of interest but mostly from down south at the moment. This could be someone’s dream job. Kerrera is a beautiful place to live and work,’ said Gill.

The grand opening is April 1 with the marina in tip top condition, and the couple are looking forward to a busy year.
