Connel Community Children’s Parties brought a little bit of festive magic on Sunday December 19 with an outdoor grotto for the village children.

The group of parent volunteers usually run a big party at Halloween and Christmas in the village hall but have not been able to run them in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid restrictions.

Co-chairperson of the group, Ellie Cooper, explained: ‘We were so sad to not be able to hold our parties but the safety of everyone in our community is our highest priority.

‘This Christmas we really wanted to bring some yuletide joy to the village but in a Covid-compliant way. An outdoor grotto felt like a lovely way and to see the excitement on the children’s faces was priceless. It certainly made us full of festive spirit.’
