Local schools were invited to take part in a competition to design a logo for Willowview Early Learning Centre in Oban, which opened in August this year.

Staff at Willowview asked the children what they wanted when they thought about their nursery, and they asked for rainbow colours, a tree and children.  There was more than 65 fantastic entries from Rockfield Primary and Park Primary, and the winning entry was by Layla from Rockfield Primary.

Head of centre Gillian McDougall said: ‘There are so many creative children in our town.  We received lots of wonderful entries.  We feel that Layla’s picture really captured what our children asked for and we loved that the children in the picture are in silhouette as it represents that all children are equal at Willowview.

‘We have added McCaig’s Tower into the logo as it’s such a powerful symbol of our home town.’

Willowview Early Learning Centre is a local authority ELC based in Oban that provides funded hours for children aged three to five, plus eligible two-year olds.  They have two large playrooms with free-flow access to a spacious nature area and outdoor space all day.
