On Friday night it was all about celebrating Lochaber at its best as Lochaber Ideas Week was brought to a close – the best businesses, the best produce and two of the area’s best chefs!

Guests were treated to a delicious seven-course tasting menu, with each course highlighting locally-sourced produce, and given the exquisite attention of chefs Stewart MacLachlan of Lochaber Larder and  Steven Traill of Rain Bakery.

The chefs pulled out all the stops, worked incredibly hard and did an amazing job of successfully delivering such an ambitious tasting menu to more than 80 guests in the Ben Nevis Distillery.

The food was fantastic and offered something really distinctive – from fresh halibut with a mussel sauce, a surprise personal favourite, to the consommé of foraged wild local mushrooms.

The menu was a taste sensation from beginning to end, with hand-made Ben Nevis whisky spheres to top it all off.

A spokesperson for organisers Lochaber Chamber of Commerce said: ‘It was a lovely celebration and a real treat to be able to get businesses together for a special evening after a long absence of social occasions.

‘We were delighted with how the evening went and hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as the chamber team did.’
