Overnight roadworks worth £580,000 have started on the A82 and are due to last four weeks.

Two sections of the A82 between Tyndrum and Ballachulish are being resurfaced.

Another section in Argyll on the A828 is also being re-surfaced, affecting the area south of Creagan roundabout.

Works will take place between 8pm and 5am each night with surfacing due to be completed by 5am on Wednesday December 15 depending on weather conditions.

No works are planned for Friday or Saturday nights.

To check which nights will result in closures, go to www.trafficscotland.org or twitter @trafficscotland to help plan your journeys.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s representative for the north west, said: ‘The works proposed across these sections of the A82 between Tyndrum and Ballachulish and A828 to the south of Creagan roundabout will help address defects and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.

‘The overnight closures are necessary in order to protect operatives and road users given the narrow width of the carriageway.

‘We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight and by providing amnesty periods for traffic.’
