After being cancelled due to Covid last year, Strontian’s bonfire and fireworks event was back with a bang this year.

On Friday November 5, socially-distanced crowds gathered to watch the magnificent display in the Strontian showground and enjoy the warmth from the towering bonfire.

A selection of food was on offer including soup and marshmallows to toast around log candles.

The event, which is a community effort organised and supported by Sunart Community Council and local businesses, collected donations for Strontian Beaver and Cub Scouts.

Cub Scout leader Jamie Tait said: ‘We’re still tallying up, but more than £520 was raised for the scouts. Huge thanks to Sunart Community Council, Kate Campbell from the Ariundle Centre, Alasdair Maclean from Strontian Stores and the Strontian firefighters.’
