Community council

Plockton and District Community Council met in Plockton Hall on October 11.

Chairman David McGhie resigned from the council because of health problems. Vice chairman James Krisp will act as chairman until the next meeting.

Among the items discussed were:


Lochalsh and Skye Housing Association has requested a meeting with the community council to discuss possible house sites in Plockton.

Village skips

These will be available on October 30.

Septic tank at Rhu

No progress has been made, despite promises from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.

Pot holes

Lack of staff has delayed any work being done.

14 Harbour Street

The community council was pleased work has finally started on renovating this council house. It should be finished in February.

Next meeting: Monday November 8.


Mink have appeared in Plockton for the first time. People with hens are concerned.


Recent deaths in the area include Davie McColl, Avernish; Linda Stewart, Kyle; Pat Burnett, Kyle; Davie Fraser, Kilmorack, well-known in Plockton; Jacqueline Allan, formerly of Kyle; and Janet Jones, Plockton.

Sympathy is expressed to relatives.

80th birthday

Congratulations to Dr Iain Matheson, 28 Harbour Street, Plockton, who celebrated his 80th birthday on October 20. Dr Matheson’s milestone means there are now 21 octogenarians and eight nonogenarians in Plockton.
