A plan to build a new 30-bedroom hotel on an Oban car park has been submitted to Argyll and Bute Council.

The application to erect the three storey building on Shore Street was filed by Fabulously Scottish Hotels (Oban) Ltd.

Second floor rooms have private terraces overlooking Oban Bay, with views to Kerrera and Mull. The medium/small scale building, explained the applicant’s supporting statement, will have a footprint of 478 sqm and 15 car parking spaces.

The land in the heart of Oban is currently a private pay-and-display car park with spaces for more than 40 vehicles beside the John Anderson House apartment block and railway tracks, with the Calmac Ferry Terminus beyond.

Further down Shore Street lies the 81 room Premier Inn Oban hotel, which opened in 2019, and across the road is the Kelvin Hotel and Kerrera Lodge guest house.
