Oban Lorne 1st XV travelled to Helensburgh on Saturday and came out with a 7-33 victory.

Helensburgh started off well with the majority of play in the opening 20 minutes taking place in the Oban half of the pitch.

Technique and youth made up for having a lighter pack, however, and the visitors dominated the scrum throughout the game.

The second half did not start too well for Oban who let Helensburgh in for their only try in the game but the boys got back on top of the game eventually winning 7-33 with tries from captain Calum MacLachlan, Jethro Anderson and Mathew Jackson.

This weekend, Oban play host to Paisley with a 3pm kick-off. The clubhouse will be open from 1pm and the team is hoping for a good turnout of supports to help keep up the momentum.

There were no games for the youths or the ladies teams last weekend but this Sunday sees a full programme with the ladies at home to Wigtownshire, 2pm; the Under 16s away to Loch Lomond, 2pm; and the Under 14s travelling to Glasgow to play Birkmyre RFC Under 14s.
