Moto3 race ace John McPhee took his first podium of the season with third place in a double-red-flag Grand Prix of the Americas.

Following a difficult qualifier the previous day, John started in tenth position taking a place on the fourth row of the grid on the Austin circuit.

Settling into his rhythm in the first part of the race, John quickly started making progress and set the fastest lap as he moved into third position before the first red flag. With that being the declared result, John took 16 World Championship points and his first podium of the season.

Commenting on the race John said: ‘We worked hard for that and my team and I deserved the champagne today. I’m so happy to be back on the box, I felt like we had the pace to battle for the win but we’ll certainly take the podium and look forward to Misano next.’

Next up for John is the Emilia Romagna GP at the Misano World Circuit in Marco Simoncelli, Italy, on October 22-24.
