Community working is fast becoming a signature of Oban and this week the sports and events sector are leading the way.

The idea of having an all singing, all dancing multi-purpose stadium with covered seating, a multitude of changing rooms, a function suite, an array of smart offices and a surface of NFL standards may seem pie in the sky to some. But there are enough clubs, groups and organisations of high repute in this town that believe in the Mossfield – Oban Sports and Events Stadium project that maybe, just maybe, the dream can be achieved.

Already dubbed the MOSES project, to bring all the ideas on the table to fruition will indeed take an effort of biblical proportions. But the hope of building something that will be accessible to the whole community and beyond will be well worth it.

‘If we build, it they will come’.

•Talking of community working, we must say a huge well done to the Oban Pride team who following months of uncertainty due to Covid, managed to put their 2021 event on last weekend.

Venues throughout the town were filled with joy and laughter as family friendly events took place and the group must be commended for brightening up our lives while at the same time sending out its important anti-bigotry message.
