Lochaber Mod committee have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event due to the continuing rise in Covid cases.

In an announcement last Thursday, September 9,  Mòd Loch Abar stated: ‘It is with regret that due to high Covid cases circulating amongst the younger community in the Fort William and wider Lochaber area, Meur Loch Abar has taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s in person local Mod that was due to take place on September 17 and 18.

‘The safety and wellbeing of all our competitors and volunteers is paramount in our decision, and the large number of cases currently being experienced in the local area has led us to this regretful outcome.’

Competitors were emailed about the decision and have been offered the chance to enter a virtual competition instead. Instructions on how to do this will be posted on the Mòd Loch Abar Facebook page in due course.
