Firefighters were called to a house fire in Glen Road, Bridgend, Islay at  3.50am on Saturday, September 11.

Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Police said no-one else was injured in the incident but that the house was extensively damaged.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report was be sent to the procurator fiscal.

The man was due to appear at Campbeltown Sheriff Court today, Monday September 13.
