Friends of Oban Hospice have launched the official 2022 calendar and sales got off to a flying start.
Copies of the calendar featuring photographs taken by Dove Centre co-ordinator Peter Darling have been winging their way all over the UK from as far north as Shetland and as south as London.
Secretary of the Friends of Oban Hospice Shiralene Cave said the calendar’s launch event in Gibraltar Street on August 28 saw 40 copies sold.
‘We were grateful to Oban Rotary Club for the loan of their gazebo and the stall looked great decorated with bunting and balloons. We sold 40 calendars on the day which was a brilliant start and thanks to the feature in the Oban Times we received telephone calls from London, Peterborough, Crieff and Wales for calendar orders. Calendars are also winging their way to Livingstone and Shetland and we hope to have news of calendars arriving further afield across international destinations soon!’
For £10 you can pick up a copy from The Dove Centre in Stevenson Street and from sponsors’ counters at Button Nose Gift Boutique in Airds Crescent, Roxy’s Coffee & Tea House in Argyll Square, Amore Hairdressing in George Street and D&A Munn in Breadalbane Street.
‘More local businesses are stepping forward, happy to support us with offers of help to sell the calendars. The calendar is now available at Benderloch Shop, Connel Village Shop, Grant’s Butcher – Taynuilt, Dunollie Stores, Argyll Wellbeing Hub, Craigard Decor, Hannah’s Newsagents, Orsay, Cloud Nine, Bid4Oban, The Sports Shop and Balvicar Stores.
‘The response to the calendar has been lovely to hear, it’s a real boost to feel people’s appreciation for the care and support delivered in the community by the hospice team and the positive effect it has for local people who use the hospice services,’ added Shiralene.
Up to two calendars can also be posted second class within the UK for P&P of £2.75. Emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or message Oban Hospice Ltd Facebook page.
Other sponsors are Fred Spreadbury Welding, Highland Fasteners Ltd, Howdens Oban, Morham & Brotchie, Stevenson Kennedy, Alan May Electrical, Forteith Refrigeration & Heat Pump Solutions, and D K Lafferty & Co Ltd.
Funds raised will benefit The Dove Centre, which provides a safe and comfortable space for therapies, group sessions and one-to-one support for anyone affected
by an illness, including family members and carers. Proceeds also support Càirdeas, an outreach community service providing social and emotional support to people at home who are living with cancer or life-limiting conditions.
