This week’s Oban Times is once again packed with stories from across our district and lots of great photos. Kathie has been chatting to Mull councillor Mary_Jean Devon who has handed in her resignation as island councillor and over the next six months is happy for anyone interested in taking on the role to come and shadow her to get a real feel of what the full-on but rewarding job entails. Anyone who knows the Cuan Sound will be impressed by the hardy Bluetits of Dunaern swimmers and friends who braved the waters, with safety boats on hand, to cross from Seil over to Luing in aid of Seed for Life, a charity helping farmers and schoolchildren in Malawi – see those photos. Also in this week’s OT is a story about the town’s Inner Wheel Club bringing out a new cookery book called A Taste of Oban in aid of Doddie Weir’s MND charity, in mind is former Oban High School pupil Ruth Williamson, formerly Gibson, who was diagnosed with the condition four years ago. Against the odds, Ruth has just seen her daughter start school.
