DEATHS
GEARING – Peacefully at home on August 27, 2021, aged 78 years, Danny, beloved husband of Isa, much loved dad of Audrey and Angela, devoted Seanair of Graeme and Simone, father-in-law to Paul and the late Alec. Sadly missed by all.

MACDOWALL – Peacefully on September 1, 2020, Andrew MacDowall, formerly of Hazeldean Crescent, passed away. Loving father to Patrick, Andrew and Kirsty and loving grandfather. He will be sorely missed. Aig fios ann an solus fhlanthanais.

MACKINNON – Peacefully at 7 Bowman Court, Craignure on September 6, 2021, Jean MacKinnon née Campbell, in her 96th year. Loving wife of the late Ian (Neila), a loving mother, mother-in-law, gran and great-granny. Will be sadly missed by all.

RUSSELL – Peacefully in the care of Highview House, Inverness and formerly of 2 Castle Drive, Lochyside, Fort William on September 3, 2021. Catherine (Dolly) née Murphy aged 88 years, beloved wife of the late John (Jackie) Russell. Much loved mother of Agnes, Violet, John, Paul, Tina, Alec and Karen, treasured grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Funeral service will take place at St John’s RC church, Caol on Tuesday, September 14 at 11am and afterwards at Cille Choirill Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations can be made if desired to, Save the Children or St John’s Church.

MEMORIAL SERVICE
ROBERTSON – Alison Youngs Robertson (née Macpherson). A celebration of the life of Alison, who died in February this year, will be held at St John’s, Ballachulish at 1.30pm on September 18. If attending, it would be lovely if you could wear bright colours.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
BALL – Katie, the girls, Brian and Anne wish to thank relatives, friends and neighbours for the overwhelming support they have had and are still receiving following the sudden and tragic death of Jamie. It has been truly staggering and thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. Also thanks to the Rev Richard Baxter for his kind words and lovely service, to Finlay Finlayson for the heartfelt tribute delivered with passion, to Jamie Manson and Beth for their help and professionalism, to Shona and Serena for the flowers, to Margaret Bellwood for the lovely floral display in the church, to Karon for looking after us at the Alexandra Hotel and finally to the many hundreds of mourners whose attendance was greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

MACDONALD – Mary Ann and all the family of the late David MacDonald would like to thank Dr Douglas, Dr Pullman and all the nurses and carers at Belford and Raigmore hospitals for their care and attention. Special thanks to Father Connor, Deacon Wynne, Rev Dr Angus Morrison, Kevin the organist, the gravediggers, Andrew Orr the piper, The Moorings hotel, MacDonald Bros florist for their beautiful flower arranging and Manson and MacBeath for their compassionate care and professionalism. Many thanks to all who sent cards and messages, and to all who attended the church and graveside, and for the donations to Macmillan Cancer Support.

MACPHERSON – The family of the late Mary MacPherson would like to convey their heartfelt thanks to all relatives, friends and neighbours for the many kind expressions of sympathy extended to them following their recent loss. Special thanks to Bruach House, Nairn for their excellent care and support to Mum over the last few years. Sincere thanks also to Revs Malcolm and Marion Kinnear for their comforting service and support and to John McLellan, Funeral Directors for their compassion, care and professionalism. Finally, thanks to all who generously donated the sum of £402.00 to Chest, Heart and Stroke, Scotland.

REFFIN – The family of the late Dorothy (Dot) Reffin would like to thank all relatives, friends, neighbours and work colleagues for the many kind expressions of sympathy, cards, phone calls, letters, messages and offers of support following their recent sad and sudden loss. Grateful thanks to all the medical and nursing staff of Ward B, Lorn & Islands Hospital Oban for the exceptional care given to Dot, and also for the kindness and compassion shown to our family. Our thanks are extended to the Rev. Dugald Cameron for a fitting service; to Cameron MacDonald for delivering the tribute on behalf of the family in a comforting and uplifting manner. Special thanks to
the firm of Donald
MacDonald Funeral Directors, Lochgilphead for taking care of all arrangements in a professional, dignified and reassuring manner, along with the kind assistance from Catriona and the firm of Hamish Hoey and Son. Finally our thanks to all who attended at the church and graveside and to all who paid their respects as the funeral cortège made its way to Pennyfuir Cemetery. The retiral collection has raised over £650 for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. “A million feelings, a thousand thoughts, a hundred memories, one person.” Missed greatly by all her family and friends.
