DEATHS
FLETCHER – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margaret, who passed away peacefully at Lorn and Islands hospital, on August 7, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Alex, mother of Ian, Bobby, Anne and David and a loving granny. Donations to Oban Lifeboat if desired.

HOWIESON – Suddenly at home on Sunday, August 1, 2021, aged 80 years, Alexandra Jane Howieson (Sandra). Beloved wife of the late Billy and much loved sister of Peter and Charlie and the late Hamish. A loving sister-in-law, aunt and grand-aunt. Sorely missed by her family and all her many friends and neighbours.

LOBBAN – Margaret Buchanan (née MacDonald) (Edinburgh, formerly of the Isle of Lismore). Margaret Buchanan Lobban, (Mairead), died peacefully at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on August 11, 2021. Beloved mother of Mairead and Seumas, dear sister to Lachlan and an enduring inspiration to her grandchildren, Ailsa and James, their mother Kate, Margaret’s extended family and very many friends. Church service at Greyfriars Kirk Edinburgh, Thursday, August 26 at 2.30pm and graveside service at the Isle of Lismore parish church Friday, August 27 at noon.

MACALISTER – Calum. Former geography teacher in Lochaber High School passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021, aged 92 years. Funeral will be held in Kilmallie Hall, Corpach on Thursday, August 26 at 11am followed by interment in Kilmallie Cemetery. Family flowers only please or donations may be made to Lochaber Mountain Rescue in Calum’s memory.

MACPHERSON – Peacefully in the care of Bruach House, Nairn and formerly of 12 Lovat Road, Kinlochleven on August 16, 2021, Mary (née MacGregor), aged 99 years, beloved wife of the late John (Johnnie) MacPherson. Much loved mother of Jessie, Gregor and Mairi and treasured grandmother and great-grandmother. Funeral service will take place at Kinlochleven Church of Scotland on Friday, August 20 at 1.00pm and afterwards to Innis Na Birlinn Cemetery, Onich.

McKINNEY – Peacefully, at home on Friday, August 13, 2021, aged 92 years, Ileene McKinney, beloved sister and auntie. May she rest in peace.

THANKSGIVING SERVICE
BLAKENEY – Melody. A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Mel will be held at Kilbrandon Church, Isle of Seil on Wednesday, September 1 at 3p.m.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
MACAULAY – Cameron, Janice, Iain and families wish to express their heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to all relatives, friends and neighbours for their expressions of love and sympathy by cards, telephone calls and messages received following their recent sad loss of Anna. Special thanks to H1, Cameron Court and all nursing teams for their care and support for Anna over the years. To Tom Ross & Sons for their professional, efficient and discreet funeral arrangements, to Rev. Sonia Palmer for her words of comfort and a beautiful, touching service, to Alistair Hardie for his thoughtful musical reflections and to the Ramnee Hotel for the excellent catering provided. Finally, thanks to all who generously donated to Alzheimer Scotland.

MACLEOD – Adrian and the family of the late Archie MacLeod would like to thank all the carers who looked after Archie at home, the staff at Etive House and ward I. Thanks to Catriona at Hamish Hoey’s and to Penny Earle the celebrant for a very personal celebration of Archie’s life, and to everyone who attended at Pennyfuir.

MCCUBBIN – The family of the late Elma McCubbin wish to thank all relatives, friends and neighbours for the many flowers and cards received in her memory. Thanks to those who paid their respects as the cortège made its way through Glencoe Village, Ballachulish and Kentallen to her final resting place at Duror Cemetery, and to John MacCallum who played the pipes on the way through Ballachulish. Thanks to Rev. Malcolm Kinnear for conducting the service at Nether Lochaber Church and for his comforting words. Special thanks to the Home Carers, District Nurses and Ballachulish Medical Practice who supported Elma through the last weeks of her illness, as well as Belford Hospital for the final days of excellent care. Thanks also to John McLellan Funeral Directors for their compassion, care and professionalism. Finally, thanks to the Isles of Glencoe Hotel for their excellent provision of refreshments.

PETTIGREW – Dorothy and Lesley wish to thank everyone for the kind messages of sympathy received following the sad loss of their brother John. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Ward I, Lorn and Islands Hospital for their tender care and also to Karine Devlin (social work) for help and support. Sincere thanks to the Rev. Tom Telfer for comforting words at the graveside and to family and friends who attended the funeral.
