Lochaber Rugby Club recently held a Royal Bank Rugby Force day of action, supported by the bank and Scottish Rugby, which gave Scottish clubs the chance of a much needed get-together plus a working party to get clubs and grounds ready for the new season.
Lochaber took full advantage of willing players and volunteers to help with a clubhouse external makeover, painting, lots of cleaning, replacing paving and steps, plus the installation of a new concrete plinth to assist with match-day filming and squad development.
Club president Charlie Donaldson commented on the successful weekend: ‘We are a proud rugby club and it was great to hear the progress the senior squad was making on the road.
‘As a club, we can’t thank the players and volunteers enough for their hard work and support throughout the pandemic. Lochaber Rugby Club can never underestimate the importance of our volunteers. It’s simple – our club wouldn’t run without you. Thank you.’
Lochaber have arranged pre-season fixtures to be played at their Banavie home, but the first fixture against Highland RFC last Saturday ended up being postponed.
As things currently stand, Lochaber are due to face Moray this Saturday in their second pre-season fixture at Banavie.
