Saturday saw the return of the Oban Parkrun after an absence of 17 months due to Covid.

The return coincided with the parkrun celebrating five years at Ganavan. Eighty-seven runners, walkers and joggers turned out to participate.

Those 87 included many local and regular parkrunners, plus some first timers. Two of these first timers were aged only five and six! There were also many visitors, some who had adjusted their holiday plans to join in at Ganavan, confirming the popularity of parkruns.

Parkruns are a free, weekly, timed 5k walk/jog/run at 9.30am every Saturday. They are organised entirely by volunteers and are friendly and fun. The age range on Saturday was from five years to over 80, illustrating that all can participate following registration at www.parkrun.org.uk/register
