The body of missing man John Smith has been found near the summit of Ben Cruachan.

The 84-year-old from Nottingham was discovered at around 2.50pm on Tuesday August 10.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and his family have been informed.

A report will now be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Mr Smith, known by the name of Frank, was last seen at around 7.15am on August 5 leaving the Crianlarich Hotel.

His grey Mazda 6 estate was found in a parking area used by walkers heading up the Munro.

Extensive searches have been carried out by rescue teams since his disappearance.
