Caledonian Marts Ltd, Stirling, Thursday July 22, sold 135 cattle comprised of 46 bullocks, heifers and young bulls and 58 OTM cattle as well as 31 calves and stirks.

Prime heifers averaged 248ppkg at 590Kg. Prime bullocks averaged 253ppkg at 612Kg.

Prime heifers sold to 278ppkg for a Limousin twice from Learielaw, Broxburn and Penston, Macmerry purchased by G Kirk, Butchers, Denny, D Comrie, Butchers, Comrie and D Campbell, Butchers, Callandar respectfully and to £1633 for a Limousin from Bruckley, St Andrews purchased by T Johnston, Butchers, Falkirk.

Prime Bullocks sold to 262ppkg Twice for a Limousin from Bruckley, St Andrews and Learielaw, Broxburn purchased by D Comrie, Butchers, Comrie and T Johnston, Butchers, Falkirk and to £1642 for a Limousin again from Bruckley, St Andrews purchased by W Stark, Twechar.

Bulls (Under 30 months) sold to 210ppkg for an Aberdeen Angus from Highland Wagyu, Dunblane and to £1555 for a Limousin from J H Garbutt, Sketewan, Pitlochry.

Heifers averaged 221ppkg selling to 241ppkg for a pen of Limousins from W J F Ramsay & Sons, Cardryne, Stranraer and to £1210 for a Simmental from D Mckenzie, Ardgate, Gartocharn.

Black & Whites averaged 189ppkg selling to 200ppkg from Low Barbeth, Leswalt and to £780 from A H S Drummond, Glenside, Stranraer.

Rearing Cattle:

United Auctions, Stirling, sold 107 rearing cattle. An excellent show of stirks was met with an even stronger trade with an ever increasing demand for stirks once again.

The sale was topped at £785 for a pen of 3 CHX blks from M/s Mitchell, Ardtornish, St. Andrews. On milk calves topped at £470 also from M/s Mitchell, Ardtornish.
